Talked with Halls but he wouldn’t give an inch, so she couldn’t be baptized.

Picked up some good people spot tracting.

Ate with the Dawkins, had fish and hush puppies. Sure was good.

May 16, 1965

Was a real enjoyable day ate went with the Dawkins to District Conference at Douglas, Ga. It was a good conference and we sure enjoyed it.

Came home and attempted to teach Herman – but no go. So we retired – what a day.

May 17, 1965

Regular D-day. Went bowling with the sisters and then Bro. Dawkins came over – then we all went to the show The Truth About Spring. That evening we went by and saw Marrett and he decided to be baptized, oh happy day. He is really a good man – gave Merril Ray the 2^nd – what a scatter brain.

May 18, 1965

The ZLs came and I’m working with Elder Price. Got move-in list – got the car fixed all morning. Looked up move-ins and all. Saw Sis Hall for a minute – not change in her husband. Had a couple apps crash out. Talk with the Brownlee and they are out of it. Church of Christ.

May 19, 1965

About the same – move-ins, etc. talked with Bro. Marrett – he is sure good. Couple apps crashed. But we also met some good people. Everything is real fine – I’m enjoying working with Elder Price. I’m also tired.

May 20, 1965 to 23, 1965

May 23 to the 26

I received a transfer on Mon. I’m going to Sanford, Fla. To labor with E. Fred Riggs. I’m leaving on Thurs. Tues we worked in Waycross all day. It’s not Wed and I’m preparing to leave tomorrow. That’s about it. See?

May 27, 65

Well, I left the Big town of “Dosta” this morning. When I got to the bus station E. Gene Peterson was also going on the same bus. So we rode together until we got to Jax and then he had to transfer buses. Was real fun to have some one with you on a transfer.

I arrived in Sanford around 8:00 p.m. and came to the apt. and no one was here. Came in and made myself at home. Was good to hit the sack.

May 28. 65

Yippee – my first big day in Sanford. We gave Mrs. Keith the first – pretty good. Saw a couple other people also. We went to Daytona in the afternoon to interview some people. That evening we went to a ward – or Relief Society dinner which was real good.

May 29. 65

Visited a few people this morning – left after lunch and went to Orlando for a baptismal service. After ward we were just leaving the mission home and our clutch went out. So we went back and were fixing to take another and all and the brand new ones came in, so we got out new car – we also went to another baptismal that evening. Then we came home.

May 30, 1965

We attended our church mtgs as usual. Ate dinner at Bro. and Sis. Holly’s. made out reports and then gave Dale Fletcher the 1^st, pretty good. He’ll be baptized. Came home.

May 31, 1965

We went to the beach today with the Ellers ( new Pyrna). Sure had a good time. We rode in the back of the truck and boy and I ever burned.

Then this evening we went to Orlando for the B.Y.U. lectures was real good.

June 1, 1965

Mrs. Keith crashed out this morning. We went out to Oaks and visited and arrnge a fireside. Then we went over to Mrs. Lanes and talked with them and also at lunch. The two Lane girls were just baptized before or the day after I got there. Their mom is coming around also. Came home and made out reports and wrote some letters to out-of-town contacts.

Gave the Buckners the 4^th and ate dinner with them. Bro Buckner got all upset and left in the middle of the disc. Sister Buckner is great.

June 2, 65

The general today all day – nothing exciting.

June 3, 65

Visited potential contacts all morning. Visited contacts and just the general most of the day. Gave the Fedders, Don and Dale, the 1^st. Seem pretty good. Also we gave Mrs. Lane the 1^st and she said she wanted to be baptized. Real great.

Gave Sis. Buckner the 5^th. Bro Buckner left before we got there. She is great and will be baptized Sat. he is really giving her a bad time.

June 4, 65

Gave Sis Buckner the 6^th and interviewed for baptism – she is all set. Great.

Visited members and contacts and potential.

June 5, 65

Sis Buckner (Jill) (Helen Thelma) was baptized today – Elder Riggs performed the ordinance and I confirmed her. She is just tops – she gave us a poem she wrote and it is great.

Sister Buckner’s people she was this and it’s great.

I write from experience to only two,

Sister (Jill) Helen Thomas Buckner – June 5, 65

This has truly been a blessed day – I’m so thankful for my testimony of the true gospel of Jesus Christ. And for my calling a s special servant fo the Lord in the mission field.

I’m so grateful for my family and their support – both spiritual and financial. They’re great and I sure love and appreciate them. I’m also grateful for my love – Jeanette. And I’m so thankful for her faith and prayers and all she is and stands for. I sure love her dearly. It’s great to be alive and it’s greater to be a member of the true church of Jesus Christ. I’m just THANKFUL!!

June 6, 1965

We went to Orlando Stake Conference today. It was real thrilling and a very good conf. M.I.A. and missionary committee were represented. It was a real good one.

Gave Sis Helen Lane and Bill Boak the 1^st and they are going to be baptized on Sat. Also we went by Sis. Buckner and then we came back and ate with her. Sure good.

June 7, 1965

Nothing exciting – went to the shows – ate at Massongales and then gave Sis Lane and Bill Boak the 2^nd – they are great.

June 8, 1965

We had a D-mtg this orning - was a real good one. I spoke. Then Elder Jay M. Worthington stayed here to work with me. Had a couple app. crash out. Gave Sis Lane and Bill he 3^rd. Sis Lane and Bill are already living Word of Wisdom. Great.

June 9, 1965

Went to Daytona Beach and worked with the Elders there. Haymono – Sleight – Hyatt and Taylor.

Moore crashed completely. Visited contacts and members. Gave Bill and Sis Lane the 4^th today.

June 10, 1965

Looked up move-ins all morning – visited members in the afternoon – gave Lane and Boak the 3^rd – about it.

June 11, 1965

Same – about as all week. Gave lane and Boak the 6^th and they are all set fo baptism tomorrow. Happy day.

June 12, 1965

Sis Lane and Bill Boak were baptized today by Elder Riggs. I confirmed Bill and Elder Riggs confirmed Sis. Lane. Was real great and we were sure happy.

We helped Sis Carter move this morning before the service. Then Elder Worthington and I headed for Orlando.

June 13, 1965

Regular church meetings. Worked with youth on the referral and the Y.A.M.C.

June 14^th through the 19^th

This week has been real great and successful. We strarted teaching Tom Lane and he will be baptized on the 26^th. Also we have picked up the Berndts – the Gustafs – the Tabor (one) so all is well. We have some real fine meetings set up and they look just great.

June 20^th, 65

Regular church and all. Gave Mary Tabor the 1^st – Gave Tom Lane the 4^th - Gave Rodney Sharp the 1^st – Had a real busy day and all.

We ate with the Elder family.

June 21^st, 65

Well we finally went frog (illegible) with Tony Burner at 1:00 am this morning. Came home at 8:00 and slept in.

Done cleaning and laundry. Went to the Dr and to the show I show What You Did. Was real good.

Gave the Newsoms the 1^st and they are a real sharp couple. Set up a mtg with Corperlin and she is sharp also. About it.

June 22, 65

We were busy busy today. We gave 6 disc. Man, am I ever bushed. Gave Carpenters the 1^st and she looks real good. Gave Tommy the 5^th and he is almost set for baptism this Sat. Gave Brenda Whitlow the first and she is real good. The Simones had the 1^st also and they are real sharp too. We are really being blessed. Gave Rodney sharp the 2^nd – He is doing great also. We went by Gustaf and just mostly talked. He has some very weird ideas. Boy I’m beat and ready for the hay after today.

June 23, 1965

We went to Datona Beach this morning and traded with the brethren. Elder W. Haymond is working with me. We came back and 5 disc. Another busy day.

Gave Tom Lane the 6^th and he is all set for Sat. Gave Robin Petersen and Jim Whitlow and also Mr. and Mrs. Wade the 1^st and they are pretty good. Gave Rodney Sharp the 2^nd. Again it’s bedtime and I’m ready. Wow, what a day.

June 24^th – 25^th

I’ve been working with Elder Wayne Haymond the past couple days. We have been busy, busy. Nothing real exciting has happened. Gave Rodney Sharp the 4^th and he is going great.

June 26^th, 65

Tom Lane was baptized this afternoon. Bro Lane was there and he isn’t too far from being baptized. Came home and did reports.

June 27, 65

Regular church service and all. Ate dinner with the Ellers – was real good. Gave Rodney Sharp the 5^th after Sac. Mtg. and then we went over to Hoelle’s for Spanish ride and all. Real good.

June 28, 65

Wow, what a day – we went with the Lanes and Boaks over to New Symrna and we fished all day. I caught 15. Man was it ever fun. Ate with the Massongales. Had a couple mtgs crash but played a record for the Newsoms.

June 29, 65

Did monthlies and worked on a map all morning. Carpenter and Anderson’s group mtg crashed. Went to Daytona Beach to trade with elder brethren. I’m working with Elder George, my old Brandenton friend.

June 30 to July 8, 1965

I have neglected this book again. Quite a lot has happened. We taught Rodney Sharp the rest of the disc. and baptized him Sat the 3^rd of July.

Then this last week since Sunday the 4^th we have taught Bro. Lane and he was baptized this morning the 8^th by Elder Riggs at Carlton’s new swimming pool – was a real good service.

Also Elder Riggs is transferring this morning to Jax. My new companion is Elder Rich.

We have picked up some good people. The Hough family (5) look real goal. Also we are teaching Tom (illegible) and he looks good. So things are really booming here.

We went to Lanes on Sun and we just visited. Finally we have Bro. Lane the 2^nd disc. and he then told us he knows the church was true and wanted to be baptized. So that made us real happy. They are all sure great.

July 9, 1965

We looked up move-ins and visited around. Went to Orlando to pick up some films. A mtg at Pietrantoni’s crashed. Sorta. Been a long, trying day.

July 11, 1965

Regular Sunday, church and all. Gave Tom M. the 3^rd. (illegible) class. Pretty good. Had a real long talk with elder Rich and also I called Jeanette.

July 12, 65

A doggy D-Day, (illegible). Gave Blankenships the 1^st. About it. Ate with Massongales.

July 13 – 17^th

We have taught the Blankenship boys this week and they were baptized Sat 17, 65. Mainly all week we have been looking for new people and we picked up Mrs. Izer. And also some new move-ins. He’s a hoot and a half.

July 18, 65

Church. Ate with Elders. Came home and slept – not feeling so hot. Elder Rick was sick so I went to Church (S.M.) and gave his speech that he was supposed to. About it.

July 19, 65

Washed, cleaned, etc. etc. Went to the show – Real good. Von Ryan’s Express and Distant Rifles. Couple of our app. crashed. Came home.

July 20, 65

Elder Rich went to Winder Park to a D.L.s conference. I worked with Donnie Eller in the afternoon gave Izer the 2^nd and she said she would be baptized Say. Talked with Mrs. Schmidt and set up a mtg for tomorrow. Gave Pat the 1^st at Carter’s – real good. Went with John Garrett this evening and gave the Herrins the 1^st. Pretty good.

July 21, 1965

Elders Simonson and Rich traded this morning for the week. We worked on the Relief Society letters. Gave Sis Izer the 3^rd. Said she would live Word of Wisdom. Gave Sister Schmidt the 1^st and she will be baptized the 31^st. Gave Pat the 1^st disc. at Carter’s. Pretty good. Ate with Cashners. Went out to Huff’s and administered to Sis. Huff.

July 22, 1965

Finished letters this morning. Saw some move-ins. Gave Sister Izer the 4^th. Worked more on letters. Visited members in the evening.

July 23, 1965

Saw move-ins in the morning. Gave Izer the 5^th and 6^th and she is all set for baptism tomorrow. Gave Sis Schimidt the 2^nd at Pietrantoni’s.

July 24, 1965

Sister Ida Charlett Izer was baptized this afternoon by myself in Orlando and confirmed by Elder Rick. We went to Orlando with Haynes. About it.

July 25, 1965

Regular church meetings and all. Nothing real exciting. Ate with Ellers.

July 26, 1965

Same D-Day. Washed, wrote and all that garbage. Ate with the Massongales. A couple meetings crashed but we set up a couple more.

July 27, 1965

Out Relief Society Group meeting crashed out right. Also another mtg. Gave Sis Schmidt the 3^rd and 4^th. She is almost prepared for Thurs. gave the Cassidys the 1^st – pretty good. Also gave a young couple the 1^st by the name of Davis.

July 28, 1965

Saw a few people. Gave Schimidt the 5^th. Went to Deland is the evening and taught some of Sis Bushner’s friends, the Chesters. Real good.

July 29, 65

Gave the Cassidys the 1^st – real good. Gave Sis Schmidt the 6^th and interview. Then later that evening I baptized her in the Carlton’s pool. Was real neat – sharp service – then Bro. Pietrantoni confirmed her. Then we all went to the Dairy Queen and had a Sundae.

We didn’t do much – our miles on the car are gone. In the mail today I got a transfer. I’ll be going to Lakeland, Fla, and I received a new appointment. I will be the District Leader there. I’m real thrilled for this assign. In the evening we went over to Ellers and out to Lanes for awhile.

July 31, 1965

I’m glad July is over and done with. I did some packing then we did reports. We had a fireside at the Boaks in the evening with all the goodies. We showed the World’s Fair – Mormon Pavilion film.

Aug 1, 1965

Regular church for a fast mtg. Went out to the Boak’s for dinner and it sure was delicious. Stopped by Lanes and then went over to the Pitts. Then home and packed some more.

Aug 2, 1965

Well I’m off today. We out to the Lane’s this morning for ‘byes and all that. Then we went to the show and then I leaped on the bus and was to Lakeland, Fla. Met Elder Needer in Orlando and he was on his way to Tampa so we rode over together. Arrived at 8:00 and Elder Earl Humphrey picked me up. Went home and unpacked.

Aug 3, 1965

Had sorta another D-Day ‘cause E. Humphrey and the district had development mtg. Mon. Saw The Monkey’s Uncle. Visited some members in the evening.

Aug 4, 1965

Couple apps. crashed this morning. Got the apt. straightened around and the landlord is going to paint and all. Visited members. Met Sis Atkins and I really think she’ll be baptized Sat.

Aug 5, to Aug 14^th, 65

Slipped on writing in this thing. I worked in Lakeland from the 5^th to the 10^th and on the 10^th I went to Lake Wales and worked with Elder Connell from Baker, Oregon. Lake Wale is real dead. We got a real good youth activity going. It was successful but otherwise everything is dead.

Then I’ve worked here in the Lakeland from the 13^th to 14^th. Not much going on. Ate with the Lewis family Fri. evening. We gave the Morphis family the 1^st – pretty good. About it. Nothing exciting.

Aug 15, 65

There was a youth conference held here in Lakeland for the four stakes in Fla. It was a tremendous success. Bro. Roy M. Darley, YMMIA Board member and Tab. Choir organist were here also. He was sure good. About it.

Aug 16, 1965

The Lake Wales brethren came over and we played ball and then went to the show. Pretty fun. Gave the Morphis [family] the 2^nd. Good family.

Aug 17, 1965 to Aug. 21, 1965

The ZLs were coming over but due to circumstances they didn’t so I worked here all week. We did about the same, move-ins, G.Q.s. Been doing a little of everything.

Fri. the 20^th we had a missionary conference in Tampa. It was real good. I even spoke.

Aug. 22^nd, 1965 to the 28^th

On Sunday we attended Tampa Stake Conference. Real good. Alvin R. Dryer was here.

Monday we didn’t do much. All the brethren came over (in the District) and we went to the show. Elder Forbes was transferred and Elder Hockenberry came in.

Tues. we had a Development Mtg. with the ZLs conducting. Then I came to Winter Haven and have worked her all week with Elder Cal Bluff from Pima, Ariz. It’s been a good week. W.H. is doing real good.

Aug 29 to Sept 4, 1965

I worked in Tampa this week with Elder Leland Robinson, the ZL. Sure was a good week. We really enjoyed it. I saw everyone and had some good visits.

Sept. 5 to Sept. 11, 1965

Sunday, we attended out church mtgs. Went to Mulberry and Barton. In the evening we went to the Milton’s and had pizza and played “Hearts.” Mon. we did some regular work. Went to the show Sons of Katie Elder. Tues. we had a zone party. All the elders in the zone went to Tampa and we played baseball and gold. Then ate and went to the show. We saw Shenandoah. Also we received notice we were being transferred. Me to Cocoa and Elder Humphrey to Plant City. Wed we packed and got things read to leave. Thurs we left. My new companion is Francis J. Rawls from Wickenberg, Ariz. Fri we started getting acquainted. Met some real good people. Also Sat. about the same.

Sept. 12 to 18^th

We attended church for the first time. They really have a good ward here. The chapel was packed. It was a real good day. We ate with the Skinner family. He is in the bishopric.

On Mon. same old D-Day. Saw What’s new Pussy Cat. Real odd. Prepared for D-mtg and then we had an app. crash so we went over to the bishop’s for some info.

Tues was a real good day. We picked up some new people and got acquainted with the area more. We gave Debbie haycock the 1^st and she is real good but her mom isn’t too happy. Then we went over to Taylor’s and set up a group mtg. with the girls and we also ate dinner with them. Then we hurried to another app. and we were late so we set a return app. went to M.I.A. for a min. and then I took Elder Cluff and we gave Edelsteins the 1^st – retty fair.

Wed we had a Development Mtg. this was the first one I actually was in direct charge of. It was a success I felt. Then I came over to Eau Gallie to work with Elder Geroge. I worked with him the rest of Wed. and all Thurs. Then Fri. morning I came over to Melbourne and worked with Elder Alfred Mortenson from Saford, Arizona.

Sept 19, 65 to Sept 22^nd, 65

Went to all out regular meetings. Had a group mtg with the Taylor family and ate with the Jensens on Sunday.

Mon. we went to the beach with elders Cluff and Plamer. Had a good time. Came home and prepared to go to Winter Haven and work with Elder Robinson. Then we traded.

Tues. and Wed. we visited members, taught disc. and regular work, nothing thrilling went on.

Sept. 23^rd to Sept. 30, 65

Worked with E. Robinson Thurs. On Fri. we traded back. Went into Winter park and stopped at the mission home for supplies and we talked with Pres. Winder and Elder Webb. They told us E. Rawls was being transferred next week which was fine with me. Came home. Sat. we went to Eau Gallie, Melbourne, and Daytona Beach and had study class with the Elders.

Sunday, regular church mtgs. Ate dinner with (Bishop) Jensens. Mon. we played gold with Elders George and Petersen. Then we went to the show Joy in the Morning. Tues. and Wed. we didn’t do a lot. I wasn’t feeling too hot. Thurs. was the transfer. My new companion is E. Clyde Dahle from Layton, Ut.

Oct. 1^st to 7^th

Well, I was sick all Fri. so I stayed in bed. Say. Was a leader’s mtg. in Winter haven and we went to that, then came home and I went back to bed. Sun., regular church mtgs.

Mon. we went to Eau Gallie to the show with Elders George, Peterson, Anderson, Mortensen.

Tues. and Wed. we got E. Dahle acquainted with the area and set up some mtgs. Taught the Davidsens the 4^th and 5^th. They are looking good. Also picked up a new family, Williams.

Thurs. we had a D-mtg in Cocoa at the Chapel. It was a knowledge session.

Elders George, Peterson, Anderson, Mortensen, Palmer, Cluff, Simonsen, Romrell, and Dahle were in attendance. We went to eat afterward at Howard Johnson.

Made arrangements to baptize Rick Edelstein next week. Things are looking good. Almost forgot, Jeanette called Sun.

Oct. 7^th to the 13^th

I’m not too consistent in wiriting in here. We are teaching the Davidsen girls – Medline and Kathy. Rick Edelstein. Mrs. Williams and Zegars. The harrells carshed out by their father.

Sunday the 10^th was Orlando conference. We rode over with Bro. Richardsen. We are with the Gaineys. Was a good day.

Monday Elders George and Anderson came over and we went bowling and goofed off.

Tuesday was a very bad day. Everyone crashed out their app.

Wed. was Zone Conference. In Winter haven. Sure was a good conf. Being my last it was rather special. Elder Dahle and I resented the Close the Deal and it turned out pretty good.

I came back to Daytona to work with elder Simonsen and we went through and stopped in Sanford and ate with the Lanes. Was sure good to see them. Then we came on and the app. crashed through.

Oct. 14^th

We visited members, contacts, and general M.W. most of the day. Gave Sis Erwin the 1^st and she looks good.

Oct. 15^th

We went to Sis Tomicek this morning and got talking and the next things we knew we gave her the 4^th and 5^th disc and was making arrangements to baptize her. Then she got terribly sick and asked to wait a week. Went by and met Mr. Erwin and we are going to teach him also. Then we came back to Cocoa.

Oct. 16^th

What a hectic day. We had to go to Eau Gallie but before we left Elder Simonsen called and said Sis. Tomicek had decided to be baptized. So we went to Eau Gallie. Then went to Titusville and picked up Elder Cluff and he and I went to Daytona Beack to Interview Sis Tomicek while Elder Palmer and Dahle came back to Cocoa to fill the font and make arrangements for the baptismal service in Cocoa. I interviewed Sis. Tomicek, stayed for the baptism and turned right around and came back to Cocoa just in time for the service here.

Oct. 17, 1965

Regular church, nothing very thrilling. We ate at home. Soup and bread. Real exciting day I might add.

Oct 18 to 23

On Mon. we did out regular chores. We went to the show Lord of the Flies and also David and Leslie. Two real different types of shows. Then we traded with the Z.L.s and I went with Elder Ray Lauritzen (from Medford, Oregon) to Winter haven. We shopped in Orlando and saw and ate with the “Pansies.”

Tues. we did regular work, move-ins, referrals, etc. Also on Wed.

Thurs. we walked and walked ‘cause the miles were gone. Man, I was sore. We also tried out a few cars.

Fri. we traded back because E. Lauritzen was transferred.

Sat. we had several app. crash through. In the afternoon we gave Rick Edelstein the 5^th and in the evening we gave the Trimmal family the 2^nd and they are sharp.

Oct. 24, 65

Regular meetings today. Are with the Jensens. About it.

Oct. 25, 65

We watched the Agena go off and intended to watch the Gemini 6 until they had trouble.

Then we went to Eau Gallie to the show Shop of Fools and it was real good. Then I stayed in Eau Gallie to work with Elder Gener Peterson from Brigham City, Utah.

Oct. 26, 65

We talked with the Schellers and showed them a movie and also ate with them. They are being baptized Sat. Real good.

Oct. 27, ‘65

We shopped this morning and I bought some new shoes. We ha d ameeting crash out this afternoon. We ate with the Paul Talyors and then went over to the Ericksen’s and had cake and milk and talked for awhile.

Oct. 28, ’65 to Oct. 29

Both days Elder Pete was sick so we never accompanied much. We did got out to the Schellers. They will be baptized Sat. although they gave us a scare.

Oct. 30, 1965

I interviewed Schellers and they were baptized this morning and then we returned to Cocoa. Didn’t do too awful much.

Oct. 31, 1965

Same regular mtgs. We had a real good Sac. Mtg. Slept in the afternoon.

Nov. 1, 1965

We moved today over to Merritt Island with the John Hopkins[1] family. Real nice.

Gave Trimmle the 4^th. They are progressing fairly well.

We saw Hallelujah Trail this afternoon.

Nov. 2, ‘65

Got all our business taken care of this morning.

Gave a Mrs. Priestly the 1^st and she is real good.

Gave the Bennett family the 1^st and they are pretty good also.

Then we went to M.I.A.

Nov. 3, 1965

This morning we did repots etc. and paid some bills. I got my release today and I will be going home Mon the 8^th.

I went to Daytona beach and worked with E. Romrell from Idaho. Gave the Erwins the 4^th and they are sharp.

Nov. 4, 1965

We looked for an apt. for the new elders without success and so finally after they arrived they rented the one net to the other Elders like before.

Nov. 5, 1965

We came to Cocoa this morning and had a Development Mtg. Was real good. Afterwards we went to Trail Winds and ate. All twelve of us.

E. Boot and Larsen – E. Romrell and Simonsen all laboring in Daytona. E. Cluff and Greener in Titusville. E. George and Rawson in Eau Gallie. E. Anderson and Heiner in Melbourne.

That evening we went ot Sanford and ate with lanes. Saw a few people. Sis. Pietrantoni and Schmidt, Hollys. Good old Sanford.

Nov. 8, 1965

This morning we drove to Orlando and I spent most of the day with Gaineys. Then they took me to the airport and I started my flight home. I had a layover in Dallas and then to Denver and I arrived in S.L.C. a little earlier that scheduled and no one was there. They were just coming down the ramp as I was coming up. Well, I’m home. It’s been great.

Elder J packed. We washed then we went with the Dawkins and the sisters and bowled. Was real fun. Also played pool. Then as we were walking home we stopped at Trailways and found my new companion waiting for us and guess who? Elder Riley. Boy was I relieved. Came home and then we took E.J. to the bus and he was off.

Looked up move-ins, tracted. Had a mtg with the Br. Pres. Talked to Sis hall. In the evening we went out to Bemiss and set up a meeting with the Snider family, Bro and Sis Suggs’ relatives.

May 5, 1965

About the same as yesterday. Gave Sis Hall the 5^th. Went over to Moon’s in the evening and goofed off looking at Albuns and all.

May 6^th, 1965

Same as all week. Gave Jim Elsbury the 2^nd and the Sniders the 1^st. Pretty good evening.

May 7^th, 1965

Again we have just been doing about the same.

May 8^th, 1965

Same. I’m real enthused just been doing the same. Give Snider the 2^nd; fair. Came home and I am beat. Guess I’ll hit the sack.

May 9, 1965

Church meetings as usual. Went out to the Sniders to eat and this was confusion between the Suggs and I so we came home and made out reports and took a nap. Went to Sac. Mtg. (illegible). I sure feel rotten.

May 10, 1965

Same old D-Day. Chores. Went bowling and played pool with the Dawkins and the Sisters Hall and Claridge. Came home and got ready and went out to Suggs to get things straightened but it was to now avail. Bro. Suggs wouldn’t listen so we left and went to a priesthood meeting.

May 11, 1965

Gave two disc. today. One to Morel Hill and it was fairly good. The other was with Meril Ray and it was good. Took care of odds and ends.

Talked with the Br. Pres. on the Suggs situation and got it straightened as far as he was concerned. Happy days are here again.

May 12, 1965

Move-ins, tract, about the same as usual the past while. Sniders crashed out on us. I think the Suggs had something to do with that.

May 13, 1965

Gave Sis Hall the 6^th and she said she would be baptized Say. Saw a few other people and made arrangements for D-mtg and also conference tomorrow.

Had out D-mtg. this evening and it was real good. The Waycross brethren spent the night with us.

May 14, 1965

Got up at four and was at the Church at 5:00 am. For interviews. Had a nice chat with Pres. Winder.

We had a real great Conference. Was one of the best I’ve been to.

Talked with Sis Hall and her hubby. Set his good down. No baptism he says. Boy were we tired.

Church mtgs. Had a couple app. crash. Went over to moon’s after Sac. Mtg. and had ice cream and watched slides. Came home.

Regular D-Day chores. Wash – clean, wash car. Went bowling this afternoon – then went over to Gunn’s and played tetherball, baseball, and then went over to the Methodist church and played football. It was E. Jep’s birthday, so the sisters Rasmussen and Youngblood made a cake and we had a Happy Birthday party. That evening we went out to Suggs and ate dinner.

5 appointments crashed today. Looked up some move-ins. Went to Lukeland and gave Donna Delk whoops – set up mtg to teach her. Went to Ray City and gave Harpers the 4^th.

Mar. 24, 1965

Move-ins, tracted, ate lunch with Moons. Gave Martha Phillips the 1^st, a referral from Sister Whitney. Our app. this evening crashed.

A little of everything today. Tracting, move-ins. Gave Donna Delk the 1^st and she is good. Went on to Ray City and gae harpers the 5^th.

Regular – went to Moody Field with Moons this afternoon to see the Thunderbirds. Pretty good. Then went over to their place and had barbequed hamburgers. Went to Wildes’.

Went to Ray City to see the Harpers and Palmers. Tyler crashed. Griner was drunk. Real experience.

Mar. 28, 1965

Church mtgs. – Gave Donna Delk the 2^nd and 3^rd after church. Gave Akina the 1^st. Ate with Dawkins. Had a real good Sac. Mtg. and a film afterward. Went over to Gunn’s and had a snack. Went and got a snack with max and Chip Wildes. Came home.

Regular – played tennis this morning. Went to Strange Bedfellows this afternoon.

Mar. 30, 1965

Looked up move-ins – a little tracting. Gave Donna the 4^th – real good. Gave Buddy Ebbs the 1^st – fair. He is a young college student. Elders Dustin and Humphries came about 10:30 to ride to conference with us the next day and we stayed up half the night.

Mar. 31, 1965

Drove to Orlando to mission-wide conference. The purpose was to get the cars all arranged. 30% of the missionaries are now walking. It was a real good conference and we all certainly enjoyed it. Got to see everyone, old companions, etc. Drove back to Orlando Valdosta and it had turned off cold again. The Waycross brethren stayed here.

April 1, 1965

The sisters finally made it with the Waycross brethren’s car. We got them straightened around and on their way. Visited contacts and some move-ins. Gave Donna the 5^th and 6^th – she is all ready to be baptized. Went to Harper’s but they weren’t there so we set up a new time – looks good.

Looked up move-ins. Made a few app. About all we did.

April 3, 1965

Arranged for the baptismal service. Donna Delk was baptized by Elder Jeppersen and I confirmed her. Good service. Look up move-ins – some appointments crashed.

April 4, 1965

Regular Sunday. Meetings and all visited the Baptist church. Blah!

April 5, 1965

Played tennis – regular garbage. Went to the show in the afternoon. In the evening we gave Sarah Williams the first – she is Sharon Wildes’, who is a member. She is real good. Gave Tryon Lindaberry the 1^st – fair. Went to the Priesthood broadcast.

April 6, 1965

Had a D-Day mtg this morning. Gave Lee Biggs the first and he is pretty good. Couple apps. Crashed. Gave harpers the 6^th – and there was a good feeling there. I’m now baking a cake for Sis hall – it’s her birthday tomorrow. About it.

April 7^th – 9^th

Tracted some this morning. All 5 of our app. crashed though on Wed. W did give Sarah Williams the 2^nd. Real good and she told us on Wed she wanted to be baptized but Thus. She told us her Mom was real upset and we couldn’t teach her anymore. The last couple days everything has crashed. Man, what a mess. Gave Marretts the 1^st. Pretty good. About it.

April 10^th 65

A pretty blah Sat. Went out to Palmers and Did Palmer is just getting worse so we are (have) dropped them.

We went with the Dawkins to Tony’s Pizza and had lasagna[1]. It was real good.

April 11, 1965

Went out to Suggs and watched Conference 0 was sure good. We also ate dinner with them. Then we came home and finished preparing out talks for Sac. Mtg. Went to Sac. Mtg. and the missionaries were on the program. E.J., me, Sisters Wilcox and Hall. Then we went to the Green Turtle and Bro and Sis Dawkins treated. The shrimp was delicious. Came home and Jeanette called me. Sure made it nice. Great. Love her. Mucho.

April 12^th to 18^th

Did about the same as we have all week. I worked with Elder Hoobs all week and Elder Jeppersen went to Waycross to work with Elder Ford.

We gave Marretts the 2^nd and 3^rd. Look pretty good. Gave Lee Biggs the 2^nd. Fair. Had a lot of mtgs crash. Did a lot of tracting and looked up move-ins.

Went to Waycross Fri. afternoon and Elder Ford and I gave Bro. Procter the 4^th which E. H. and J. gave the Wolves the 6^th. Came back to Dosta.

Sat. nothing thrilling. On Sun. just regular church service. Went over to the Sister’s (Hall and Wilcox) and had pot luck. Elder Jepper cooked his black-eyed special. It was real fun.

Three app. crashed. About it.

April 19^th 65

Cleaned the apt. all morning. Shopped, washed, and took a few pictures, then went to the show. Couple app. crashed but we gave Marrett the 4^th. Seem real good. About all we did.

April 20, 1965

The Z.L.s came to work with us this morning. Elder Backar will be staying here this week. We tracted, looked up move-ins, Remell and Holtzclaw crashed. Saw Moons. In the evening Hart crashed but we talked to some way out-of-it Baptist. The (illegible). What a meeting, only gave them half the disc.

April 21, 1965

Tracted all morning and picked up some good people the last couple days. Couple apps. Crashed. Gave Marretts the 5^th. They are to be baptized Sat. Also gave Jim Ellsbury the 1^st and he is real good.

April 22, 1965

Tracted, move-ins. Reviewed everything with Marretts. Gave Robert Hall the 1^st. Real good. Bro Dawkins and I went to a mtg. with one of his friends and we got goofed up on the address. About it.

April 23, 1965

About the same as the rest of the week. Tract, move-ins, etc. Marrett had to work so we have to still give him the 6^th tomorrow so they can be baptized. About it.

April 24, 1965

We gave Marretts the 6^th and she still was making a fuss about baptism that night so we decided to let them wait and come church tomorrow and see what it was like and all. Then have the baptismal after sacrament met. We have a fella by the name of West or tried to give him the 1^st and he was so far out to lunch. What a mess.

April 25, 1965

We went to our regular mtgs. And we were expecting Marretts to show up and they never [did]. After Sunday school we drove past and no one was home. We went on down the street and saw Bro. Marrett standing in front of his daddy’s church. Boy what a slap in the face! Well I called him on the phone later and couldn’t talk as he was at his daddy’s and all.

By the way, his daddy is a Church of God preacher. Boy we weren’t too upset, about ready to slash our wrista.

Gave the Lee’s the 1^st and boy was it ever out of it. Made the day even worse. Couple other app. crashed also. Set up a mtg. with Bro. Dawkins’ friend, the Rowes, for tomorrow night. About all real discouraging and out of it. Sac mtg in the evening was real good. Pres. Wildes spoke.

April 25, 1965

Good ol’ D-day. Wrote letters, washed, shopped, and just loafed. Went to the show. Saw Those Calloways. Was real good.

In the evening our first two app. crashed. Then I went with Chip Wildes and gave the Landrons the 1^st which was sort out of it. They are Puerto Ricans so I felt right at home. Elder Jeppersen gave the Rowes the 1^st and it was also a lost cause. Man the past couple days have really been hell – about ready to pack and go home. Oh well “This too will pass,” our favorite saying.

April 26, 1965

Tracted, looked up move-ins. Gave Sister Hall the 2^nd in the afternoon and she is good. Went by the Marretts and got the full story. His daddy found out he was coming to our church and all and there was a fuss so he went with his daddy. Still has a strong testimony and plans to be baptized. Great.

Gave Bro. Hall the 2^nd and he is also good. They work all crazy hours so we have to teach them separately. But they are good.

April 27. 1965

Tracted, looked up move-ins, saw Suggs – gave a Mrs. Lewis the 1^st. Not real hot. Ellis crash out in the evening.

April 28, 1965

Tract – etc. in the morning. Gave Halls the 3^rd and they took it rather well. Nothing else exciting happened.

April 29, 1965

Same old stuff. Talked to Marretts, still as solid as ever. Will be to church Sun and we may baptize them. Yay. Real exciting day. About it!

April 30, 1965

Gave zero disc. today. Fist day all week. Nothing real exciting happened.

May 1, 1965

Gave halls the 4^th. They aren’t living the Word of Wisdom yet. Gave a young couple by the name of Carters the 1^st. They are real good. Then we went over to Moons and watched TV and talked. Then we came home and when Elder Jeppersen called the ZLs he found out he was being transferred to Jax. I don’t know who my new companion will be. They didn’t know either. Oh happy day. Man I hate to see him go.

May 2, 1965

Regular church mtgs. Went with the sisters Hall and Wilcox to S and K and had finner. Was real good. That evening after the primary program, we went with Dawkins to Tony’s and had some goodies. Then we played Scrabble until 1 am. Was real fun.

Slept in and I mean in. Cleaned apt. and then went to see Kisses for my President. Sorta good. Visited many people this evening. Set up appointments with the Negrons and also the Babers. Things are looking much better here in the San Juan area.

Looked up referrals in the Bayamon area. Set up a couple mtgs. Gave Avon the 5^th. She is going real well. Monday she’ll be baptized. Went to M.I.A. and also to Covas, and set up a mtg.

Feb. 10, 1965

Looked up referrals in the Rio Piedras area. Went to the dentist. Visited more referrals in R.P. and also Hato Rey. Went to Negrons and showed the film and made a return app. They look good.

Feb 11, 1965

Gave a Mrs. Segara the 1^st in Bayamon. Pretty good. Visited referrals, went to the dentist again. Gave Wildon Vega the 1^st. Not so hot. Wen to Fransica Covar and they had a wild group mtg. for us. 12 people were present. Fair.

Feb 12, 1965

Segara crashed on the 2^nd. Visited Entio Isle and saw referrals. Went to Rosy Rds and gave Tony Smith the 2^nd, pretty good. Wards crashed out because she had just returned from the States from a death emergency. Came home and a few minutes later I really got a SHOCK. Elder Parker was here and I was being moved out. Man was I shocked. So I came home and packed and moved out. Going to Pensacola, Fla.

Feb 13, 65 and Feb 14, 65

Went to the dentist and got straightened around. Then we went to the airport and I waited 4 hrs for a cancellation so I could fly out. I arrived in Miami and I missed the plain to Orlando so I called the Elders and they took me to the bus and I waited 4 more hrs for a bus. I arrive in Orlando at 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Slept for a while. Got up and went to church mtgs. Saw Gaineys and ate dinner with them and had a real nice visit. Also with the Rikards. Was a real good day.

Feb. 15, 65

Slept in. I was rather ill this morning. Messed around. Pres. Winder informed me I was going to Tampa instead of Pensecola at breakfast. Went back to bed. Then Pres. Winder came out and informed me I was going to Panama City so Elder Earl Humphrey, he was also going to P.C. and I took off in a rambler. We had a real good trip. We stopped in Perry, Fla. And visited some people because E. Humphrey had labored there. We arrived in P.C. at 3:00 a.m. and I was rather beat. Slept in the next day.

Feb 16 - 24

Elder Barlow has been sick and also myself. We haven’t really accomplished much. We have worked in the area some and have picked up a few people. On Tues. the 23^rd I received a transfer to Valdosta, Ga to labor with Elder Kent Jepperson. On the 24^th we ate at Sis. Heath and man it was good.

Feb 25, 1965

I boarded a Trailways this morning for Valdosta. Studied on the bus, 1^st time. Arrived on Valdosta at 4:30 pm and Elder Jepperson met me. Came to the apt. and changed clothes and headed for an app. with the Harris family. Quite a disc. (1^st). He doesn’t really know if there is a God. Then we gave the Palmers the 4^th and they are real good. Came home and unpacked. It is rather on the chilly side and I mean cold. I’m really froze.

Feb. 26, 1965

It’s still cold as a bear. Visited contacts most of day. Went to Waycross to interview for baptism. I got my first experience at interviewing. We returning and gave Toms the 6^th. They are procrastinating a little.

Feb 27, 1965

Cunningham, Jimmy, cashed and by afternoon we were both on the sick side so we came home. Boy I was under the weather and how. Also E.J. So we went to bed.

Feb. 28, 1965

Went to church mtgs. This morning. Laid around all afternoon mostly, attempting to get feeling better. Went to Sac. Mtg. Was called on by surprise to say a few words. There we went to Hahari to administer to Jeff Palmer, who is sick. Returned home.

Mar. 1, 1965

Did regular D-Day chores. Then we went bowling. Gave the Plaags the 2^nd. They aren’t overly enthused. Then we went and argued with Mr. Harris for an hour. Man, what a character. Oh well.

Mar. 2, 1965

Have met and set up appointments with some new people. Been sick a couple days so we really haven’t done too much. Gave Glenda Thompson the 1^st. Not real hot. Parrott crashed. Gave Palmers the 5^th on Thurs. and the 6^th on Friday. Fri night Bro. Palmer said he didn’t feel ready yet. Didn’t really know why. We started a fast and prayed he’d change his mind, but he hadn’t. Sister Palmer wants to wait for him. Next week. Stated in bed all day Sat. Feeling right smart (illegible).

Mar. 7, 1965

Church mtgs. Doroch and the Kents crashed. We attended the Methodist evening service. Very slow.

Mar. 8 1965 – Mar 10, 1965

D-Day we went to a show None but the Brave. Gave the Harpers the first. They’re looking real good. Seven of ‘em. Tues Plaag and Beeton both crashed. We had a D mtg in the morning and E. Backus stayed here to work with me. Wed. we visited members. Gave Gidden and Owens the 1^st and they were rather on the dense side. About it. Nothing exciting.

The past two days we have done a right smart amount of tracting. Pciked up quite a few people. Other than that nothing thrillin’ going on.

Mar. 13, 1965

Went to Moultrie, picked up E. Jepper. Cam back to Valdosta and then drove on Waycross to take them a car as the one they had went out. Came home. Some meetings feel through.

Mar. 14, 1965

Church mtgs as usual. I was the investigator teacher. What a mess. Ate at the Whitney’s and man what a riot. Gerald Wilson was there also. Gave the Richardsen’s the 1^st. Pretty good. About it.

D-Day – nothing excitin’ going on. Had a flop fireside. No support.

Looked up move-ins – did odds and ends. Gave the Harpers the – wow – just talked and read pamphlets. Looking better all the time. Also talked with Palmers. Bro. Palmer about the same.

Mar. 17, 1965

We received a call this morning informing us the Assistants (Webb and Evans) were coming. Well low and behold Pres. Winder was with them all so, man, were we ever surprised. He just visited for a while and went on his merry way. That afternoon we went to Waycross and traded companions. Elder Orton is with me for a couple days.

Tracted some, looked up new move-ins. Talked with Palmers. They were here in town. Went to branch mtg. Funny as usual. Richardsen crashed out completely. Said they were going back to the Baptist church. Couple other app. crashed also.

Mar. 18, 1965

Tracted, new move-ins – found some new people. Looks good. Went to Ray City and talked with Palmers but Bro. Palmer still feels he’s not ready. Had a real good take with him. Gave the Harpers the 3^rd. They took the Word of Wisdom real well. Preacher Suggs was there; as usual we went the rounds. Oh well.

Mar. 19, 1965

Took a trip to Madison, Fla. to get license plates. We couldn’t get Ga. Plates and today was the deadline. Went over to Wilkinson’s, ate with them, went out and saw new building site for the church house. Talked with Mr. Kelley. Returned. Saw a few people. That evening we went to Dawkins and ate. It was his birthday and also E.J. on Monday so we celebrated. Good dinner. Good Nite.

Priesthood, Sunday School, and Sacrament as usual. Good mtgs. Gaineys and Ongemachs were all there. HEY! Saw Sister McDowell. She is really in a mess. Came home and ate. Now THE BED!

D DAY! HEY! Didn’t do anything exciting. Wrote letters and goofed off all day. Went out and had a good visit with the Gaineys. I talked with Bro. Gainey and he has made up his mind to live the W. of W. He is a real fine man. Sure love ‘em. Had a fireside this evening. Rode with the Ongemachs to it. They’re also sharp people. The Gaineys, Sue and Sister Gainey were there.

Worked in the office all day. Sister Kerner crashed. Hard to meet with. Had the Gaineys over for dinner. They really enjoyed [it]. Then Mike and Sue went on a hay ride with the M.I.A. and we drove Gainey’s home. Had a real good talk with Bro. Gainey again. He confided in me and told me all the trouble they’ve had. And how he wanted to get things straightened up and live a good life.

Worked in the office. Went out in the afternoon and visited a few people. Came back and worked some more in the office. Gave the Ongemachs the 6^th and they’re all ready for Saturday. Then we went over to Gainey’s and had barbequed chicken and gave them the 5^th. Sue promised to live the W. of W. and Bro. Gainey is now living it. They have really changed and are the greatest people. As a joke they gave us an Easter Basket chucked full of liquor, cigs, tea, coffee. Man, what a laugh. They’re just great. They’re all ready for Sat. too. I’m sure thankful for these people and the way the Lord has blessed us so much. It really strengthens your testimony and I’m just ever so grateful to be a Mormon and it’s even greater to be a Mormon Elder and missionary serving here now. It’s just great and I sure love it.

Worked in the office. Had a D mtg this morning. Real good. I slept some this afternoon and then worked more in the office. Gave the Gaineys the 6^th. Bro Gainey and Sue gave their 1^st prayers. The Spirit was real strong and just wonderful. Saw Bro. Ongemach. Everything is just great.

Today has been one of the greatest days of my mission. First off the Lord blessed us with 2 families that were baptized, the Gaineys and Ongemachs. This was truly a paid day. Seven wonderful people were baptized. Elder V Chris baptized 3 and I baptized Ken Ongemach, Did Gainey, Beth, and Mike Gainey. This really made us happy and we were really thankful.

Just before the baptismal service Pres. Winder came and told me he was sending me to Puerto Rico. Boy was I ever surprised. I was in shock for hours. It’s really quite an honor. I will be laboring with Elder R. S. Chris again. 3^rd time is the charm I guess. I will be leaving next Thurs. Man what a surprise. I’m real grateful for this opportunity tough. It’s great.

We spent the evening with Gaineys and then we went to Ongemachs for a while. Then home, to bed to get some rest. I’m beat.

We went to Tampa Stake Conference this morning. We only stayed for one session and then drove back to Orlando’s fast meeting. Sue Gainey bore her testimony real good. Then we went to Morrison’s and ate and then we attended the reorganized church. It was very dead. Went out and saw Rikards and then home. I got to see all the Tampa folks.

Nov. 2, 1964

No D Day today, change for tomorrow. Typed transfers all day and made arrangements to get things in order to leave. Ate lunch with Gaineys. Worked in the office all day.

Nov 3, 1964

D day. Didn’t do much. Made preparations to leave. Attended M.I.A. and went out to Gaineys this evening. Went with Elder Tilford out to see some people in Oveido. Look good. Sister Wilkens referred them.

Nov 4, 1964

Well it’s getting close and I’m getting scared. Worked in the office. Showed Elder Peterson the job and what to do. Ate with Gaineys and then we went over to Ongemachs for a while. Ran around with out heads cut off. New missionaries and all.

Well this has really been a day and a half. The morning was maddening. Everything went wrong. I missed my first flight so I had to get rerouted. So I went through Tampa.

Called JoAnn and had a nice talk and also Sister Wynns. It was a real thrill to fly over the ocean. It was real beautiful. I arrived in San Juan at 9:30 this time. Elder Chris was shocked to see me. He didn’t know I was coming. I’m real tired so adios.

We went over to Ramey today, 80 miles from here. Saw some members, real good people. The man we went to see is out to lunch. X him. Very tired.

Went to church. I spoke there. They have a small branch here and it’s rather good. I sure love it. Ate at the Robinsons and then we came home. Muy tired.

D Day. Cleaned apt all morning, we even slept in until 8:30. In the afternoon we went to the show Robin and the 7 Hoods. It was pretty good. Gave Sis Brillon and Did Arroya the 1^st. Sis Brillon looks good but Sis Arroya not so hot.

We have just been looking up World’s Fair referrals almost all the time. Have given a couple disc. each night. Went to M.I.A. on Tues. Met a real good family Thurs night. Everything is great.

Looked up referrals. Gave Davie the 3^rd and 4^th. He’s coming real good. Gave Sis Brillon the 2^nd. Seems good. Still have a question about her being colored. She we didn’t think is but the father. Met another good lady, Sis Merraro. Things are looking good. Went by Robinson’s. Elder Chris wants me to say how neat he is. Elder Chris is a real sharp fellow. His head just got as big as a watermelon. Ha! Ha!

Gave Bro and Sis Trigo the 1^st. Pretty fair. She is rather good. Looked up some referrals, then gave Davie Rodriguez the 5^th. He is good and will be baptized next Mon. Ate ate the Robinson’s. Then we gave Peppie and his father the 1^st. Peppi is real good. Things are looking good.

Sort of a slow day, haven’t felt so hot. Gave Davie the 6^th and talked to his parents. He is all ready for baptism.

Well, I have been real sick with the Puerto Rican Monga. Have I ever been sick. On Monday the 23^rd Elder Chris baptized Davie Rodriquez. I didn’t even go to the service. So we haven’t accomplished much. In fact nothing all week. Gave Sis Brillon the 4^th on Wed. Goal.

Spent the day with the Russells. Had a wonderful dinner. Then a family program in the evening. Was a real nice Thanksgiving.

Worked all day, getting things going again. We are going to baptize Danny Rodriguez and possibly Sis Laura Brillon. Looked up referrals and all.

Gave Danny the 5^th and 6^th today and reviewed with him. Also we gave his mom the first and met a couple more good people.

Went to Roosevelt Rds this morning. Attended all their mtgs. Met the Wards. Referral from Bro. Mitchell. Look real good. Stopped in Ceiba on the way home and to my surprise the people we were going to see were Larry Garbis and wife. What a shock. Then we returned to San Juan for a fireside and then we gave Sister Brillon the 5^th and 6^th. She is to be baptized tomorrow. Been a good day and real enjoyable. Spoke in Sac. Mtg. The ride was real beautiful.

Went to El Merro castle and to the beach sight seeing. Real enjoyable. Danny Rodriguez and Sister Laura Brillon were baptized tonight. Real different and wonderful experience baptized in the ocean. I performed the baptisms. Been a great day and the Lord has blessed us. Adios.

Dec 1 to Dec 10

We have been teaching some good people. Sister Rodriguez and Popo R the past while. They’ll be baptized Mon the 14^th.

We went to Ramey on the 3^rd and taught the Priesthood class that evening. Then returned the 4^th. Stayed with the Hills.

On the 6^th went to Roosevelt Rds again. Gave Wards the 1^st. A family referred by the Mitchells. They look good. Attended their mtgs.

The 7^th we saw Fate is the Hunter. Pretty good.

Been teaching and about the same, looking up referrals etc.

The 10^th we gave the Wards the 2^nd and ate dinner with them and the Mitchells. Pretty good.

Received Xmas goodies from Jeanette on the 8^th. All sorts of goodies.

Dec 11, 64 to Dec 18, 64

We have been doing about the same W.F.R. and all. The Wards are looking great. Played them the J.S. Profile of a Prophet on the 13^th. Gave Sis Ward some real good for thought. Gave them the 3^rd on the 16^th and they said they’d live the Word of Wisdom. Sister Ward seems much better. He’s great.

On the 13^th E.C. and I spoke in Sacrament Mtg. at San Juan branch. Was supposed to baptize Sis. Rodriguez but she became ill so we will next Monday.

E.C. has and is horrible, her has and is real angry. He thinks he is a Big Neat thing but he’s not! He is reading this, that’s why the slams. He really isn’t that bad. (He’s worse). Ha! Ha!

On Monday, 14^th, we saw Woman of Staw and The Victors (it was crummy).

Same going ons. Sun. the 20 gave Wards the 4^th. Looking good. Mon. we saw The 3^rd Secret. Been looking up referrals. On Wed 23 went to Roosevelt Rds to their branch Xmas party. Real good. The Wards were there. About it.

Saw a few people this morning. Ate at Fothinghams and then headed for Rosy to give the Wards the 5^th. They’re doing fine. Bro. Ward needs to make up his mind to live W. of W. Ate dinner with them and met their daughter. Then we stopped at Johnson’s and Mitchell’s for a minute and then came home.

Christmas Day, 1964, Puerto Rico. What a Christmas. Real warm. Visited Butlers, then went to Pres. and Sister Greenlands for dinner and then we played Seck. Then E. Chris and I went to the show Kiss Me Stupid. Had a good day.

Battled traffic looking up W.F.R. most of the morning. Ate lunch at Sister James’. Looked up more W.F.R. Called Wards. We went or E.V. took me to see Goodbye Charlie. Real good. Oh, I’m 21. Ha! Ha! What a way to spend New Year’s Eve.

The weekends of the 3 and 10 we spend at Ramey Br. On the 12^th E.C. and I both spoke in Sac. Mtg. we have some potential people to teach there. We are going again this week. We have seen that Wards a couple times. They seem to be coming along better. Just need to decide when. Have picked up some people here in San Juan. We stayed with the Adams at Ramey. He is quite a card. That’s it.

Spent most of the day looking up World’s Fair Referrals. That’s about it.

Worked on mailers most all the day. Gave Sigeriary the 1^st. Also Hilda Garcia. Things are looking somewhat better.

Looked up referrals. Gave Bro. Julian the 2^nd. Got ready to go to Ramey.

Went to Ramey this morning. Gave Ana the 2^nd. Seems pretty good. We stayed with Adams and they took us to the club to eat. Visited some other people and talked with them.

Drove back to San Juan. Attended meetings here. Ate at the Robinson’s.

Met with Pres. Winder at 7:00 to 11:00. Then we ate lunch with them.

Then we went to Priesthood mtg. Pres Winder and his Dad spoke. Also Bro Adams and Bro Hill. Was a real good mtg.

Then they had the youth testimony mtg. and the was real good also.

Then we went out to Becky 7 and ate. That was good also. Then we went to the dance and that wasn’t so good. I couldn’t dance.

Cleaned, washed, etc. Went to see Topkapi in the afternoon. Had meeting with some people.

Gave Sis Cruz the 2^nd. Fairly good. Ate lunch with Pres. Winder and the gang at the El Convento (a nunnery turned into a rest.) Was real good. Then went and looked up referral. Then we took P. W. to the airport and saw them off. Gave Butlers the 6^th. John is ready for baptism now. Went to M.I.A. and look up more referrals.

Made arrangements to send mailers and cleaned out pamphlets and all.

Sis. Baker crashed. Gave Tuler the 3^rd. He is looking real good.

Gave Frank the 5^th. He has really come out of it and is sure doing good now.

Went to Ramey this afternoon. Stayed overnight with the Hills. Ana couldn’t meet with us.

Worked in San Juan in the afternoon as soon as we got back from Ramey.

Attended Sunday at Rosy Rds. Talked with the Wards. They are to be baptized this week. Came back and went to San Juan services.

Feb 1, 1965

We put out car in the garage. We to the show Erik the Conqueror. I baptized John Butler this evening. E.C. confirmed him. Then we walked to out app and it crashed. So we went to a show The Young Lovers. It was pretty good. We’ve been reading around some on the crazy buses. Man, what a riot. You never can get a seat and the aisles are jammed.

Feb 2, 1965

Out car is still being repaired so we worked on mailers until in the afternoon. Then we went to give Avon the 2^nd, one of Eddie V.’s cousins. She is read good. Then we tramped around on the buses getting lost and all. Fun, fun. Went to M.I.A. About it. I’m beat from walking.

Feb 3, 1965

Good news. Out car still isn’t ready. Worked on mailers. Ortedo crashed. Gave Avon the 3^rd. She is looking real good. One of Eddie V.’s cousins. We rode the bus again and walked. Man, what a life.

Feb 4, 1965

Spent the whole morning in court. Didn’t accomplish a thing… at court that is. Went to Rosy in the evening and that was a fizzle. They didn’t get out message we were coming. Oh well. Grin and bear it.

Went to Ramey and taught Ana. Gave her the 4^th and showed her the film. She isn’t really too golden. Visited with Hills and all.

Drove from Ramey to Rio Piedras early this morning, changed clothes and cleaned up and went on Rosy Rds. Attended their mtgs. Then they had a farewell get together for Johnsons. Talked with Wards. They have sorta cooled off. Gave a friend of Bro. McPhie’s the 1^st, Tony Smith, real good. Went up to the tower where Larry Garbis works and that was rather interesting. Drove back to Rio Peidras and I’m beat. Pooped.
