Jan woops Feb. 6, 64

Plan[n]ed our board for contacts and the day. Visited Mary Smith. Checked out new move in list. Had a real wonderful fireside this evening. The Andrews put on a Mormon Family Night that was real good. Sister Tucker was there. Real tremendous.

Feb 7, 64

Done more work on contact board and map. Visited or attempted, she wasn't home, Mary Smith. Check out new move-ins. It started raining so we came home and telephone tracted. Set up a good meeting. Meet my first J.W. today. We are to meet with her next Thurs. Gave Fernandez the 3^rd. Good family. No W of W problem at all. Just great.

Feb. 8, 64

Gave Mary Smith the 4^th. Coming good. Visited Sister Tucker. She sure is great. Look[ed] up new move-ins – telephone tracted quite a bit.

Feb 9, 64

Church all day. Sis Tucker, Sis Smith, Sis Jones, and the Fernandez[es] were there. Real great. Went to plant City, suppose to speak but due to some mix up I didn't.  Went to the Tourchton for dinner afterwards. Went with E. Jolly. I bore my testimony.

Feb 10, 64

Went to the Gasperilla Parade today. Watch[ed] the boats come in and all real long and different. Visited our contacts. Went to Kings this evening and show them the film and ate chicken sandwiches.

Feb. 11, 64

Gave Mary Smith the 5^th. Wow. Visited Sister Reston. Mtg with the Jennings fell thro[ugh] for a group mtg. Went to M.I.A. Talk[ed] to JoAnne Jones.

Feb 12, 64

D Day. Boy, what a day. Done all the regular garbage. Then we went to Opps and jump[ed] on the trampoline, then we went over to the Wynn's and washed the car. They invited us to eat also. Then we mess[ed] around some with the football. Then we went to the church and played basketball with Elders Tracy and Sudberry. Got plenty of exercise if nothing else. Gave those wonderful Fernandez[es] the 4^th. Mrs and Don will be baptized the 22^nd. Real golden and just real tremendous. Well I’m pooped and ready for bed. Before going Feb 13 to Fernandez[es] we visited Sister Smith and she told us her problem about the ticket she had received and she had no money to pay the fine so she was on her way to jail. Anyway we decided to go to the bishop and see if they (he) knew of any jobs. Well he didn't but he ask[ed] us if we wanted to go to a funeral and help him so naturally we said yes. Well when we got thro[ugh] E. Riley was conducting and I was preaching. Well what a day. Again I'm more pooped than ever. Good night.

Feb 13, 64

Well I finished preparing my talk for tomorrow all morning. At noon we met the Bishop at the church. Also the Sisters, Millet and Hetton, were there so we recruited them also to this funeral to sing. Before we left the church, they were to sing Oh My Father and all four of us were going to sing Abide With Me ‘Tis Eventide. Word!! Anyway we proceeded to the funeral and everything went fine. I preached the Plan of Salvation, we sang and all was well. The 1^st verse was sorta way off but we all picked up on the 2^nd. The sisters sounded real good. After the service the Bishop took us to steak dinner at the Tootle house. I was starved and it was delicious. Ten he took us to the bakery and bought us a bunch of goodies. Cake, rolls, bread, etc. What a great guy. Then we went to Anderson's and they finally crashed, no more the Father (illegible). Visited Sis Tucker. Then we went to see Sis Smith who had sure enough wound up in jail. At the stockade no less. Then we went to a real inspiring fireside. Pres Patten spoke. Just real real great.

Feb 14, 64

What a lousy day. Got new move-ins. One big home, not interested. Gave the Fernandez[es] the 5^th and they are really looking forward to baptism. They are just the greatest. Gave JoAnn J review on the 3^rd and 4^th. She really has a testimony. The evening turned out GREAT. So long. Jeanette called at 11:30 this evening. Wow, what a surprise.

Feb 15, 64

Church all day. 10 hours of sitting too much. We had bishop's mtg at 10:00 and then priesthood at 1:30, S.S. at 1:00 and Sac. S. at 2:30. Then we headed for Lakeland. I went with E. Coombs and we spoke. Real good service. Sure enjoyed it. Came back and ate [at] the Allyn's. That was too delicious. So long.

Visited Sis Tucker. Contacted Mr. Knapp. Started raining cats and dogs and was just bad so we came home and telephone tracted. Went to M.I.A.

D Day chores. Played football and jumped on the trampoline. Gave the 1^st to the Kates family. Seem good.

Feb. 19, 64

Met Sis Tucker’s husband. Met with my 1st J.W. today. They’re out of it all the way. Visited Sis Smith at the stockade. Met with the Jennings and set up group mtg. Went to fireside. We were in charge, held at the Hodges. No contacts.

Feb. 20, 64

Visited the Tuckers, Sis T. will be baptized next week. Her husband gave his permission. Tracted all afternoon. Met a real good family. Will give them the 1^st.

Feb. 21, 64

Telephone tracted all morning while E. Riley prepared his talk for church tomorrow. Slept some this afternoon while E.R. was preparing talk some. Went to baptismal this evening. 6 were baptized.

Feb. 22-27

Much the same going on. Picked up some new people this past week: Harp, Carpers, Dickerson, and have some good mtgs set up. Had a group mtg. Mon. with P Whites met Bro. Harp.

Feb. 28, 64

Sis Tucker baptized this evening by E. Riley. Real wonderful baptismal service. All day mostly made arrangements for baptismal service. Sis Andrus sang Nearer My God to Thee. There were 3 ladies baptized.

Got Sis Smith out of the Pen today. Going to baptize her next Sat. Check[ed] out new move ins. Visited members for group mtgs. That’s it.

Ha! Ha! Found out some days later she is out to lunch. Mar. 6, in fact.

Well I've been out over three big months now. It’s a great life and I love it. Church it all day today. Went to Larry mores for dinner. That’s a restaurant. Came home and made out reports and caught every thing up.

Mar 2, 64

D Day chores, scrub, wash, etc. Played golf (miniature) with Elders Tracy and Sudberry. Then we all went and played pool. Then we went down to the ship yard and got on a boat (cargo) and took pictures. It was real interesting. Visited contacts in the evening and went over to the King's.

Took M. Smith job hunting. Visited with Carpers. Gave the Dills the 1^st. Real great people. Jennings G. M. crash[ed]. Met with A. Knapp. He is out of it. Went over to M.I.A. and then went to see M. Smith again.

Mar 4, 64

Had Development mtg. this morning. Real great instruction. Visited some referrals and had daily contact with Investigators, Dills, Mrs. Dickerson gave the 2^nd. Went and show[ed] the Garcias the film. Seems good. (son Paul While a member.)

Jan 20 - Feb 5 1964

Gave Weeklys the 2^nd. Real great. Really gaining a testimony. Work[ed] with E. Coombs today again. Meet with a part-member family. Going to start with them Wed. This past few have really been the greatest. Real terrific.

Jan 21, 64

Conference (Missionary type Region 2) today. Real great. We received guidance and inspiration that was real tremendous. Really gets you all enthused. This past week has really been great. I’ve gained so much and my testimony is growing by heaps and bounds. President interviewed each one of us. My first interview. Went to M.I.A. for a while and then we gave the Hammocks and their daughter-in-law the 1^st. Seem fairly good. The daughter-in-law especially. This is just the GREATEST!

January 22, 64

D day, done regular chores, clean mop, wash… Gave Mrs. Tucker the 2^nd. Pretty good lady.

January 23, 64

Wow, what a day. First off E. Christensen got a transfer to Miami. Sure hate to see him go. My new companion is Elder Riley. Sorta upset the day. Then this evening we had a baptismal service. JoAnn was there. After the service JoAnn called and said she was and wanted to be baptized. Boy, was this ever great. Just terrific. Then she called her father (in the mean time we went over to Opps where she was at) and [to] tell him. She bore her testimony and he told her if that’s what she wanted, that was fine so she’ll be baptized tomorrow, Fri the 23^rd. Just great. I’m really convinced God hears and answers every prayer in some way.

We baptized JoAnn Jones this evening, what a wonderful baptismal. She really has a testimony and while [will] do real great things in the Church. E. Christensen getting ready to leave, leaves in the morning.

Jan 25, 63

E.C. left this morning for Ft. Laurderdale to labor. I work[ed] with Richard Wynne today while waiting for my new companion. We asked Qs downtown, set up a meeting with Perezes. Met my new companion at three or four. Visited contacts this evening. Showed Mrs. Tucker the Film. Elder Riley is my new companion. Real good, top notch, enthused and ready for work. Been out 2 mos. Real great.

Church services as usual. Eat dinner at Wynns. Meet with Bro and Sis King and Mary Gail and explain group meetings. Going to have one there maybe next week.

Visited contacts, set up new meetings. Gave Norths (M) the 1^st. Wow, what a disc.

Jan 28, 64

Visited and contacted new move ins. Set up a couple apps. Gave Mrs. Jones the 6^th and attempted to commit her, she did to some extent. Gave Mrs. Tucker the 4^th. Real good lady.

D Day. Regular chores. Took car to get it fix[ed]. Went to bowling alley and bowled. Walk[ed] halfway back. I got 152 and 132. Which is good for me. Gave JoAnn the 2^nd on her review. She is really a sweet gal and has a real strong conviction. Real great.

Gave Sis Tucker the 5^th, Andersons the 2^nd. Street tracted for a couple hours. Had a fireside. Sis Tucker and Jones were both there. Made out reports for T. E.

Gave the Fernandez the 1^st real good family I think. Street tracted all afternoon. Pick[ed] up some new people. Sure am pooped. My feet are killing me. Visited out contacts.

Gave Sis Smith the 1^st seems real sincere. Visited Sis Tucker. Contacted new people. Had a 1^st with Mrs. Hudson crash. Boom, I expected that.

Feb 2, 1964

Conference was just great!!! John D. Longdon was here. Also Sis McGee, and Sis Nelson from Primary and Relief Society. Tremendous talks. President Winder spoke also. Great. Introduced all the missionaries. Visited some new contacts and then we went at the Opps to have ice cream and watch some slides. Returned home and study.

Feb 3, 64

Gave sister Smith the 2^nd. Seems real sincere. Bought her a Bible and she bough the Book of Mormon. Visited some new names, referrals. Also the Kings. Gave Sister Tucker the 6^th. She prayed today for the first time Gave a wonderful prayer. She will be baptized. Andersons crashed out again. I really wonder. Gave the Fernandez the 2^nd. Good people. Will make good members. We are really going to baptize. My new com. is a real great Elder. Really enjoy working with him. Well tomorrow’s another day.

We had D Meeting this morning. You really gain from them. It was really a great mtg. One of the best we have had. Visited Mrs. Tucker, she is really great. Went to Andersons to give 3rd but they pooped out again. I wonder. Visited our other contacts and went to M.I.A.

Feb 5, 64

D Day. Same old grind. Same chores. Play[ed] basketball with Elders Tracy and Sudberry. Had lunch at our apt. Real good game and exercise. Got a hair cut. Gave or went to Mary Smith to give 3^rd. Had company so we showed them the film. She offered her first prayer. Real great. She’ll be baptized. Came home (illegible) poster or contact first and ate, Beddy.

December 23 1963 - January 19 1964

Dec. 23, 63

D-Day. Regular chores. Then we went to the show. The other Elders J & C were there. Also the Opps and Willie Hooper. We saw Kings of the Sun. Fairly good movie for .50. Gave Sis Pijuan the 5^th this evening. She is really looking forward to Baptism.

Dec. 24

Well we visited Sis Pijuan this morning to find out if she had a record player. She does so we went down and bought her the Lord's Prayer, by the Tab. Choir for Xmas.

This evening we went over to Wynn's to a party. We had a real good time. We play[ed] Spin the Bottle a new way which was neat. Then we played Sherades [Charades]. Then we pulled taffy. Boy, what a mess. But it was sure fun. Also we ate and they played records. A couple real good western ones. The whole evening was real enjoyable.

Dec 25^th

Whoopee Xmas. Ha! Ha! Well we gave Sis Pijuan the 6^th this morning. We went over their about nine. She made us some hot choc. (ovaltine) and we had a fruit cake. Also some Spanish Candy. Sis Draxler and grandson were there also. They left and then we gave the disc.

Then we went to Bishop Rich and had a very marvelous turkey dinner. Pumpkin pie and the works. I tried to call Jeanette for 2 ½ hrs. Finally I got a line through and no one was home. We just talk and have a good time. Then about 3:30 or so we left and we[nt] over to the Opps and just socialized for a while. I jump[ed] on the trampoline. Anyway this one time I was getting off and I stepped on a chair that wasn’t too steady and I fell on my head. I really cut my finger, thumb up good. (For the morning at the apt. I had already cut my other thumb on the tap in the bathtub. They call me Grace.) We then left Opps and went home, clean[ed] up and went to King's for another turkey dinner. Boy, was I ever full. We sang Xmas carols and just really had a good time. Then I called home. I talked to Sue, Sandra, Mom, Dad, and Jeanette was there. Sorta miss on her phone call But I’ll call New Year's Day. Her mom said I could call collect for my Xmas present. Oh well. Anyway we just had a gay and glorious Xmas. I really enjoyed myself although I sure miss the kids and the family. Good night.

Dec. 26, 63

Visited members for referrals and our contacts most of the day. Had a fireside in the evening. We had five contacts there. President Winder spoke, also President Hunter , and Elder Colbert. Real good fireside. Really enjoyed it. Impressed our contacts.

Visited members and our contacts. Had one disc. crash. I think we will X her off. Made 2 appointments.

Dec. 28, 63

Contacted contacts today. Prepared for baptismal service. We planned the service as it was our turn. Bishop Rich conducted. There we[re] two baptisms. I baptized Sister Isabel Pijuan 2901 Abdella in Tampa then the Bishop (Rich) confirmed her. It was really a choice baptism. She was really ready for the Gospel and accepted it so well. We met her tracting one day. After the service she took us to Conys to eat. It is a Spanish place on Dale Mabry. We had yellow rice and Chicken. It was really delicious. Then we returned home and (illegible) I ever tired. Good night.

D day. Done regular chores, wrote letters etc. etc. Went to a show seen Doris Day. Move Over Darling. Real good. Had a disc. with a real golden girl this evening JoAnn Jones. Real good.

Sunday meetings etc. etc. Went to a farewell for Bud Reed in the Tampa 2^nd ward. Eat din[n]er at the Burger King.

Dec. 31

Happy Birthday. Visited contacts. Also the bishop. Went to New year's Dance. It was sorta different. Couldn’t dance. Got home about 1:00 anyway.

Received word today that D Day had been changed to Wednesday. So we went over to Opps. I jump[ed] on the trampoline most of the day with Richard Wynn. Had a real good time. Called Jeanette this morning. Talk[ed] to everyone. Got up on the (illegible). You know.

Jan. 2, 64

Gave Mrs. Jones the 4^th this morning. She is sorta out on a limb. Visited member or two and contacts. Went to fireside this evening. Bishop Edwards talked on the B of M. I was with Elder Coombe this evening. E. C. went to our disc we had set up.

Jan. 3, 64

Saw Mrs. Jones and gave her the inquiry and just talk[ed]. Made app. with Mary Bell and Betty and Barbara. Gave Bud and Henry the talk on Profile of a Prophet. They are sorta out also.

Jan 4, 64

Gave JoAnn Jones 3^rd this afternoon. Real good. 1^st crashed with Arrington. Visited Kings, Opps, gave 1^st to Mary Bell at the Wynns. Pretty good gal. Set baptismal date for the 18^th.

Attended church meetings. Went to Sis. Pijuan for dinner. We had yellow Rice and chicken. Also some real delicious soup (Spanish Bean). Visited Kinds and then went to the Wynn's and showed movie, What is a Mormon?

Visited contacts and members. Ask G. Q. at Sears and some discount store. JoAnn Jones called off disc. We’ll meet with her Wed. Visited the Buerkes, anyway Patty. I wonder.

D Day. Regular chores. Had a real good 4^th with JoAnn Jones. She is a real good gal. Then after that a couple came over, friends of JoAnn and we gave or attempted to give them the 1^st. Boy, are they ever out of it.

Visited contacts Mrs. Jones, she sorta coming. Contacted people for fireside. We had charge. Held at Sis Pijuan. She is just fabulous. Furnished everything. Pres. Pattend spoke. Real good talk. And real inspirational. Real good evening.

Visited new residents and set up a couple of appointments. Telephone tracted. Heh. We now have a phone. Visited new contacts. Eat din[n]er at Buerkes, showed them the film and just talk[ed] and answered questions.

Worked with T. E. I worked with E. Coombs. Had 2 disc. crash. Gave 1^st to members (Davis) this evening. Good Day.

Attended regular meetings. Gave my first talk in Sacrament Meeting this evening on faith. Sister Sweeten and Bro. Hildabrant spoke also. Went over to everyone’s afterwards and ate.

Gave JoAnne the 6^th. Going to baptize her Sat. the 18^th. She is really a choice person. Gave Kings (member) the 1^st to start on new Program.

Gave Mrs. Jones the 5^th. Visited the Wolberts (members). Ask G.Q. on phone. Meet with JoAnne and played tape.

Jan. 15, 64

D Day. Didn’t do anything very exciting , did D Day routine. Traded with the T.E.s this evening and for the next few days. Had a disc. crash. Visited members and contacts. Working with E. Coombe.

Obtained move in list, ask[ed] G. Q.s while looking for an apt. Telephone tracted. Had a fireside this evening. Showed a film, The Stick of Juda[h].

Work[ed] with E Coombs today. Check[ed] out new Move ins. Set up one meeting. Visited members and had daily contact. Gave a real good 1^st to Weeklys.

Work[ed] with Coombs again on the 17 (gave Weeklys the 1^st real good. They are a young couple from the movie-ins). Anderson crashed out again. Visited contacts and members. Gave the 3^rd to Jim MaLawhorn. Young man in service. Ask[ed] G.Q. down town.

Gave a terrific 1^st to the Elders. Real good people. Young couple. Attended church meetings. Ate at Alyns again after church and disc. Work[ed] with E. Jorly while E. Chris. And Coombs went to (illegible) City to speak. Good good day.
